QUEZON CITY — To celebrate the gift of friendship and scholarship, Gabayanos came together last March 8, 2019 at the Leong Hall Roofdeck for the yearly Scholars’ Friendship Night (SFN).
This year, the long-awaited SFN was kicked-off with a group dynamic called Human Bingo. The two energetic hosts, Gybel Agregado and Lea Cabeliza, Ateneo Gabay’s President and External Vice President respectively, made sure to commentate on the Gabayanos who were zipping from one place to another in order to get enough signatures.
In the end, AJ Alceso was the first one to get all the necessary signatures for her Human Bingo thus winning a prized Ateneo Gabay shirt which was awarded to her before SFN ended.
After the GD, Mr. Ronald Cruz, a Biology Professor and AASA Board of Directors President, gave the first talk to the scholars. He told the young scholars about his experiences in the university and even gave some tips in order to make the most out of one’s college life.
Mr. Cruz ended his talk with a challenge for all scholars to take responsibility and make sure to complete their service hours. With the first inspirational talk done, everyone started to line up for food served by Sutra. While the dinner is ongoing, some talented members of Gaband serenaded the audience with love songs.
The dinner was followed by a second talk from Mr. Arvin Boller, a psychology professor and a former Gabayano in the university. In his talk, he shared that his stay in the Ateneo was a great one because of the people around him. He recalled his experiences with his friends and even reminded the scholars to always treasure their moments with their friends.
As the event dwindled down to its last few minutes, a few raffle prizes were given away to some lucky Gabayanos like Krisia Misa and Resty Almario. Before the hosts officially ended the program, the project heads, Kailo Bigcas and Carell Calderon, said their warm thanks to their core team and to everyone who attended SFN.
The event finally ended with everyone posing for a picture, each smile showing what they felt inside their hearts: gratitude.
