Ateneo Gabay held its culminating event for the school year, the Year-end Party, last April 28, 2017 at the UD Function Rooms, Ateneo de Manila University. The event this year assumed the theme Torch to represent the symbolic passing of the torches of graduating seniors and organization leaders to their successors.
The event commenced at around 6:00pm, with hosts Julia Agida and Clowee Licsi taking the stage, followed by an opening prayer by YEP project head Colemn Labrador. After dinner, the Gabayanos played “Guess That Senior,” an activity wherein participants have to guess the seniors in the picture flashed on the screen whose face is covered by stickers.
The awarding for the year’s Angkan Scheme followed, with Synesi being proclaimed the wining Angkan of the season. Pallikaria, Dynami and Dikaiosyni took home the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-runner up awards. The OIVP Awards followed, wherein good-performing and notable members of the organization were awarded.
The EB portion of the event followed. A “fast talk” interview of RUBY officers was done, followed by flashing a seniors’ recap video as pabaon for the seniors. Afterwards, the new officers, forming the team called ARGO, had their positions revealed to the Gabayanos, and were inducted into office by the ritual “fast talk” and, headed by Ate Kams of the Office of Student Activities, swearing to fulfill their duties before the organization’s members.
The audience was then entertained by GADS with their dance performance, followed by a symbolic flower carnation giving session. Here, members need to give away paper flowers to the seniors who inspired them the most. Afterwards, the whole audience gathered around and sang the Gabay Song.
