In the Youth for Leader Summit held last March 4, 2017 in the Meralco Theater, Ateneo Gabay took second place among the various participants in the summit. This year’s current theme for the event is Project PIE, with PIE standing for Elevate, Innovate, and Participate. Represented by Aly Alberto and Clowee Licsi, the organization presented its activities and participation in its different sectors and connected these with how the organization exemplifies participation, innovation, and elevation. A number of Gabayanos were also present to watch and support the representatives.
Competing among five other organizations that were selected to present at the event, Ateneo Gabay was awarded the second place and the Innovate Award. The organization won a cash price of PHP 3,000. The Innovate Award was sponsored by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), and the delegation presented their report to executives of NGCP in their main office on April 19, 2017.
The event provided networking opportunities for the participants and the organization, especially because there were different corporations and institutions willing to offer partnerships and internships. It can be hoped that the exposure brought about by the organization’s participation will help it promote and improve its involvement in its advocacies, and encourage other people to be involved in education as an advocacy.
