In its seventh year, Ateneo Gabay hosted the Ateneo Scholars’ Week with the theme “Electrify” last February 20 – 24, 2017. The flagship project spotlighted the significance of education and scholarship in the daily lives of the university scholars.
Aligned with its theme, the project focused on reenergizing and empowering the scholars by raising awareness about the value of education and scholarship opportunities, sharing information about the current condition of the Philippine education system, and strengthening the camaraderie of the scholars’ community.
The Ateneo Scholars’ Week was filled with exciting activities open for all scholars, namely an inspiring forum, a thanksgiving mass, an interactive fair, and a culminating social’s night.
A week-long event that allowed Ateneans to be empowered and enjoy each other’s ccompany while participating in different activities, such as group dynamics, and being informed of efforts involving education outside Ateneo through different booths. The Scholars’ Fair booths were open in the Zen Garden from 9 AM – 5 PM.
Scholars’ Mass (February 20, 12 NN – 1 PM, College Chapel)
Both scholars and non-scholars gathered together in celebration of the Holy Eucharist as a way to remember and pay gratitude for another year of education, as well as for the people who are with them in their journey as students in Ateneo. The thanksgiving mass was held at the College Chapel.
Scholars’ Forum (February 23, 5 PM – 7 PM, Escaler Hall)
An avenue for the scholar community to discuss relevant issues on education in the Philippines, through talks and a group sharing. It was also a way for scholars to gain a better understanding of their role in Philippine education. Held at Escaler Hall, this year’s forum tackled scholarship opportunities, and was open to all Ateneans planning to pursue a junior term abroad (JTA) or obtain graduate studies.
Scholars’ Night (February 24, 6 PM – 11 PM, Cervini Field)
A party that served as the culmination of the Scholars’ Week, for scholars to come together and celebrate the gift of education and scholarship through various activities such as performances and group dynamics for the scholars to enjoy. Held at the Cervini Field, there were performances from Over October, GaBand, Bottom Space, Clamshell Boxes, and many more. Tickets were bought at the Scholars’ Fair for Php 100.
